Police Officer-Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age
  • United States citizen
  • No felony convictions 
  • High school diploma or certificate of equivalency
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Wyoming driver's license during employment.
Salary:
  • Currently starting at $14.92/hr to top at $23.25/hr.  We do have a career development program which allows for lateral transfers. 
  • Current benefits include:

  • Vacation leave: 40-200 hours/year, depending on years of service.
  • Paid holidays: 9 per year
  • Sick leave: 80-160 hours/year depending on years of service.
  • Uniforms and equipment provided. Includes leather gear and firearm.
  • Uniform cleaning provided.
  • Life insurance policy

Additional requirements include a willingness to work irregular shifts, and perform potentially hazardous and dangerous work. You must achieve a minimum score of 70% on a written exam conducted by the City of Cody Personnel Department, complete an oral interview, psychological assessment and background investigation. Applicants may be offered employment but hiring will be contingent upon passing a medical exam, drug screen and physical abilities test. A polygraph exam may be required. Applicants must have good written and verbal communication skills. All new employees will be on a one year probationary period.
