Home Security/Operation ID

Detective

Operation ID is the marking of personal property with an identifying number as a means of discouraging theft. This number also helps police identify your property if it is lost or stolen. We will loan an engraver to mark your property and explain how to protect your records.

Neighborhood Watch

Our Homes

Neighborhood Watch is simply a crime prevention program which enlists the active participation of citizens, in cooperation with law enforcement, to reduce crime in their neighborhood. The program is an exchange of information between neighbors and law enforcement and encourages;

  • Neighbors to get to know each other and to protect themselves from criminal activity.
  • Trains people to recognize and report suspicious activities in their neighborhood.
  • Promotes crime prevention strategies such as home security Operation ID and others.

Here's how it works.

  1. Determine the need for the program. This is done by the neighborhood, not law enforcement.
  2. Contact area residents to determine who is interested and willing to be actively involved.
  3. Determine the size of the area to be watched.  Too large or too small defeats the purpose.
  4. Contact the Police Department and set up an organizational meeting.  Notify residents of the time, date and location of the meeting.
  5. At the first meeting a police officer will discuss how the program works and what you can do to prevent crime.  Next pick a block captain who will be in charge of coordinating neighborhood efforts and decide how often you want to meet.  It is a good idea to have a law enforcement representative present every so often after the first meeting to discus current crime trends or other relative topics.
  6. Start Watching!

House Checks

We encourage residents who go away on vacation to take advantage of our house check program. We will maintain information about your property that may be helpful should damage or theft occur. We will also check on your property while you are away. To sign up, stop by the Police department and full out a vacation check form.
